Emperor Haile Sellassie Introduction
   

  The Institute of Jamaica and the Rastafari Millennium Council, invite you to explore the story of what has become the most significant international Black Liberation Movement: Rastafari. This virtual exhibition introduces the viewer to the Rastafari’s source and inspiration - Ras Tafari, crowned and rechristened in 1930 Emperor Haile Sellassie I, meaning ‘Might and Power of the Holy Trinity’.

  The exhibition highlights how the values, philosophy and steadfast aspirations of Rastafari’s adherents have also earned the movement international acclaim. The artefacts, images and audio-visual features present in the exhibition offer glimpses of Rastafari traditions and significant moments in the movement’s history.
